Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker and Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly have congratulated Dr. Shama Khalid on her appointment as the First Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan. In their separate congratulatory messages to Dr. Shama Khalid, Speaker and Deputy Speaker said that under her able leadership, Gilgit-Baltistan will witness development and prosperity.

The Speaker said that Gilgit-Baltistan was a strategically and geographically an important part of Pakistan and posses immense human resource and economic potential which has not been properly exploited for the welfare of people of the area. She was confident that under the guidance of Dr. Shama Khalid, the government of Gilgit-Baltistan would initiate policies which would usher in an era of development and welfare of the region.

Dr. Fehmida Mirza said that appointment of a Woman as Governor Gilgit-Baltistan was continuation of the pledge of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to empower women of Pakistan and bring them in mainstream.
